Personally, I am the head of the video tech department at the local high school, and I believe this camera is everything it is advertised to be. You must understand that there is a big difference between a full-size camcorder and a pocket... But the Vivitar NV gives you exactly what it advertises and the infrared is a unique and effective feature when used appropriately. it wasn’t meant to. It was simply meant to gather an image in the dark and it doest that just fine. my Vivitar makes it three to four. This isn’t a bad camera. This isn’t the best camera ever, and there are definitely better options around that price. The software is very quirky as well, but it almost always is with video equipment. Typical battery life for a device like this is two hours. The great feature on this is the infrared optical, which appears in black and white. The resolution is as it is advertised, nothing spectacular....
I'm coming from a 16GB Class 6 card and haven't noticed any performance hits, so far. These numbers indicate it's performing somewhat better than the minimum guaranteed for Class 4 cards, which is great. I've used a benchmark app on the phone to gauge performance of the card, and it is doing about 5MB/sec writes and 9MB/sec reads. I saw similar write performance when the card was mounted on my PC via a USB 2. This is with settings at 10MB test data size and 8KB write unit size.
